Enjoy a relaxing Santorini retreat
There’s a reason why visiting Santorini is on many people’s bucket lists – it is a truly breath-taking Greek island that will deliver a holiday of a lifetime. It boasts stunning white and blue classic architecture in its buildings, some of the best seafood in the world, quaint fishing ports, and both black and white sand beaches - so beautiful and so unforgettable.
Our blog helps you plan a relaxing trip to Santorini and provides links for everything you need to know to get the most out of your holiday.
Given the popularity of Santorini, there are a wide variety of flights available during the peak summer season, with fewer flights available during the off-season. Whichever time of year you’re planning to visit, make sure you book your flights well in advance in order to secure a place on the flight at a time and price that suits you.
While flying is probably the easiest option, you can always take the ferry for a more traditional experience or if you’re planning an island-hopping holiday with other Islands in the Greek archipelago. There are ferry services between most of the sought-after Greek Islands with multiple routes to choose from depending on where your desired port is. You can reach Santorini via Athens, Mykonos and several other harbours.
While booking your ferry tickets in advance will give you peace of mind, you can easily book a same-day trip in the case of flight delays, etc. Taking the ferry allows flexibility and the ability to travel by foot or to take a car! It’s also great fun to be out at sea and to marvel at the islands you pass on your way in. Greek ferries have both inside and outside seating along with food and refreshments choices while on board.
Choose the right accommodation
Like with any island, where you stay matters. If you’re looking to plan a relaxing holiday with your partner, you want to avoid staying in a place that attracts lots of crowds. Firostefani and Kamari are ideal spots if you want to spend more time relaxing and wish to be away from high density tourism.

Plan your itinerary
Whilst it’s far from the largest Greek Island, Santorini offers a wide variety of attractions and activities to appease even the most selective traveller. For many visitors, there are a few non-negotiables that should feature on any Santorini itinerary. These include things like enjoying a sunset view, sampling some of the local specialities, and spending a day at one of the island’s many spectacular beaches. Consider taking the Santorini Cable Car that connects the port with a high point in the city and enjoy the views at the top and along the way.
If you’re looking to explore some of the quieter towns and villages away from the capital of Fira, it could be worth renting a car to avoid public transportation and in-demand taxi services. This will give you access to more rural spots in other parts of the island, such as the seaside village of Perissa or quaint Amoudi Bay. However you choose to see Santorini, by planning your itinerary in advance, you’ll be sure not to miss out on any of the unique wonders that make this Aegean jewel special.
Santorini is one of the most beautiful places in the world and should be enjoyed at a relaxing pace, consider spending 5 days to one week here.
