Day 0 - You might wish to arrive a day in advance.
Day 1 - Inuvik (L,D)
You’ll arrive at the Inuvik airport where your guides will greet you and take you to one of our boats to load up your luggage and head out on the East Channel of the Mackenzie River. After a boat ride filled with scenery, photo opportunities and local knowledge from your Inuvialuit guide, you will arrive at your first camp at Sandy Hills. Here you can hike up to the Tundra, just north of the tree line, and get a vast view of the Mackenzie Delta. This view sho.ws where you’ll snake your way through the next day to get to the Arctic Ocean. Now is your opportunity to explore the magical area, swim in the Arctic Ocean, and relax under the midnight sun!
Enjoy a campfire with great food, storytelling, and conversation before retiring into your tents for the night.
Day 2 - Herschel Island (B,L,D)
Wake up and enjoy a breakfast prepared by your personal cook and breathe in the fresh air! Get ready to venture to the Arctic Ocean as we journey through the Mackenzie Delta channels. Arriving on the Arctic Ocean, and finally Herschel Island, you will have time to explore the wonders of the island, try local cuisine, or just read a book under the midnight sun along the Arctic Coast.
Herschel Island is beautiful and abundant with marine and wildlife, it Is located 5 km off the coast of the Yukon. This morning trip is invigorating with new stunning sights along the way. Day 3 – Herschel Island (B,L,D)
Another epic adventure begins, this day is yours to explore Herschel Island and discover the awe-inspiring wonders this area has to offer. Enjoy a hearty breakfast, then set out on your first half of the day, hiking in the prestigious park with your local park ranger(s), learning about the important heritage and history here. You’ll also hear stories from Herschel Island that have been passed down for generations, adding to the rich local culture. From late July to early August you will experience an explosion of color as there are over 200 species of plants growing on the island. Lots of animals can be found on this island including Porcupine Caribou, Lemmings, Arctic Shrews, Muskox, Arctic Foxes and sometimes even Grizzly Bears. Over 94 species of birds have been recorded to live on the island. The second half of the day is also adventure-filled, with fishing in the Arctic Ocean for Arctic Char! Or help set a net to catch your dinner. After your adventurous, discovery-filled day hiking and fishing, you will return to camp for a relaxing evening under the Midnight Sun in the Arctic Circle.
Day 4 Herschel Island (B,L,D)
Free day to explore with your guide, fish, or hike or photograph or go wildlife viewing.
Day 5 – Inuvik (B).
Wake up to another fresh Arctic morning, and enjoy a beautifully prepared breakfast as you soak up these epic surroundings! After breakfast it’s time to pack up your luggage because you’ll be taken to the shore for a boat trip back to Inuvik. You may be leaving the Arctic, but after this unforgettable experience, the Arctic will never leave you!
